Bing and ChatGPT

ChatGPT search runs on Bing, so Bing Places matters here

The smallest search engine in the UAE feeds the biggest AI assistant. Twenty minutes of work most businesses here have not done.

Short answer

When ChatGPT looks something up on the web it searches with Bing. So your Bing listing is not a footnote to your Google one, it is the front door to the assistant most people in the UAE reach for first.

Bing takes 2.37% of UAE search against Google's 95.8% (Statcounter, August 2026), which is why almost nobody here has claimed a Bing Places listing. That is precisely the argument for claiming yours. It is free, it takes about twenty minutes, and your competitors have skipped it.

Claim the listing, match it exactly to your Google Business Profile, and make sure your website is readable to a plain crawler. That is the whole job.

The gap that makes this worth doing

Statcounter puts Google at 95.8% of UAE search and Bing at 2.37% (Statcounter, August 2026). Read as a media plan, Bing is a rounding error. Read as an input to ChatGPT, it is the index that decides what an assistant finds about you when it goes looking.

The UAE also happens to be the country where that assistant is most used. 64% of working age people here used AI in 2025, the highest share anywhere (Microsoft AI Economy Institute, January 2026), and the UAE was reported as the first country to offer ChatGPT Plus nationwide (Fintech News Middle East, May 2025).

Claim Bing Places properly

If you already run a complete Google Business Profile, this is a copy exercise. Bing can import from Google, and you should still open every field afterwards and check it.

  • Business name spelled exactly as on your Google profile and your website, in English and in Arabic
  • The full address including the emirate, and the same building or office number your site uses
  • One +971 phone number in international format
  • The right primary category, then every service you actually sell
  • Opening hours that are true, including Friday and public holidays
  • Photos, because an empty listing looks abandoned to a person and thin to a machine

Same words, everywhere

The point of the exercise is agreement. Two listings that say different things about the same business are worse than one listing, because a machine now has to decide which to believe and may decide neither. Copy, do not improvise.

Make the site itself readable

A search index reads HTML. It does not wait for a slideshow, it does not fill in a form, and it does not watch your hero video. If your services and prices only exist inside images, PDFs or a booking widget, they do not exist.

  • Every service you sell has a page with real text on it
  • Your address, +971 number and hours are text in the page, not a picture
  • The page has a title and one clear H1 that names the service and the city
  • There is a mobile viewport tag, since 52.62% of UAE web traffic is mobile (Statcounter, August 2026)
  • LocalBusiness structured data is present. See LocalBusiness schema for UAE businesses

In our screening of UAE business websites, missing structured data and missing Arabic versions are the two defects we find most often. Both are cheap to fix and both are invisible to the owner, because the site looks perfect to a human eye.

Then check what ChatGPT says

Give it a couple of weeks after the listing is verified, then ask your money question in ChatGPT from a fresh logged-out window, with web search on. Screenshot the answer and the sources. If your site or your listing appears, the plumbing works and the rest is content.

If nothing of yours appears anywhere, the problem is usually upstream of ChatGPT: a site a crawler cannot read, or a business whose details disagree across listings. Work through the master guide in order and re-test in 30 days.

What an assistant cannot see

It helps to picture what the crawler behind the assistant actually receives. It is not your site as you see it. It is the text, the links and the markup, with none of the polish.

  • It does not watch your hero video, so anything explained only in that video is lost
  • It does not open your booking widget, so prices and availability inside it do not exist
  • It does not read text baked into an image, including your price list and your offers
  • It does not fill in a form to see what is behind it
  • It often does not wait for content that only appears after a script runs

Open your own homepage, turn images off, and read what is left. If the service, the city, the price and the phone number are not in that text, an assistant looking you up is in the same position, and it will name a business whose details it could actually read.

The twenty minute version

If you only have one sitting, do these, in this order. Every one of them is free and none of them needs a developer.

  • Claim Bing Places and import your Google profile, then check every field by hand
  • Fix the business name so it matches letter for letter across Google, Bing and your website
  • Add your Arabic name to both listings, spelled the same way in both
  • Put your address with the emirate, your +971 number and your hours as plain text in your site footer
  • Ask your money question in ChatGPT with web search on, screenshot it, and file it with the date

That is the plumbing done. Everything else in these guides builds on top of it, and none of it works if a machine cannot agree with itself about who and where you are.

One last habit worth building. Every time you change something a machine reads, write the date next to it in a note: the day you claimed the listing, the day the Arabic name went on, the day the price appeared on the page. Then when an answer changes two months later you can see which change came first. Without those dates you are left guessing at cause, and guessing is how businesses end up paying for work that did nothing.

Do this first

What to do this week.

Eight things, in order. None of them needs a developer or a budget, and every one of them is checkable by you.

  1. 01Claim your Bing Places listing and verify it
  2. 02Import from Google, then check every field by hand
  3. 03Match the business name letter for letter across Google, Bing and your site
  4. 04Add your Arabic business name to both listings
  5. 05Confirm your services and prices exist as text on your own pages
  6. 06Check the site has a mobile viewport tag and loads without JavaScript
  7. 07Ask your money question in ChatGPT with web search on, and screenshot it
  8. 08Re-check in 30 days and note whether your pages appear in the sources

The bottom line

This is the cheapest item on the whole list and the one most often skipped in the UAE, for a reason that sounds sensible and is wrong. Bing is small here. Bing is also what the assistant reads. Claim the listing, match every field to your Google profile, check the site reads without images or scripts, and then get back to the work that takes longer. Twenty minutes now saves you wondering for a year why an assistant keeps naming somebody else.

Questions

The questions owners ask us about this.

Bing has 2.37% of UAE search. Why would I bother?
Because you are not buying Bing traffic, you are feeding the index ChatGPT reads when it searches the web. The 2.37% is the reason the listing is still free of competition here. Almost no UAE business has claimed one, so the effort to be complete there is about twenty minutes.
Does a Bing listing help my Google ranking?
Not directly. What helps everywhere is consistency: the same name, address, phone and services in every place a machine can read them. Claiming Bing is part of that consistency job, and it happens to be the part that feeds ChatGPT.
Do I need a UAE trade licence to claim a listing?
You need a real, licensed business at a real address, which any operating UAE company has. Listing platforms verify by post, phone or email. If you have no physical location and serve customers at their premises, both Google and Bing support a service area business, so set it up that way rather than inventing an address.
What if ChatGPT still gets my details wrong?
Fix the sources it is reading, then wait for a re-crawl. Wrong details usually trace to an old listing, a former address or a closed branch that is still live somewhere. Find and correct each one, make sure your own site states the correct facts plainly, and re-check monthly with dated screenshots.
