The working

How the days add up

Under six months. Nothing is due yet.

Six months to a year. 2 days for every completed month, so 9 months of service earns 18 days.

After a year. 30 days for every full year. For the months since the last anniversary the calculator pro rates the 30 days at 2.5 days a month, the way payroll systems usually accrue them.

A contract can give more than the legal minimum but not less. For a dispute, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation decides.

How many days of annual leave do UAE employees get?
At least 30 calendar days for each year of service, under Article 29 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021. Someone with more than six months but under a year gets 2 days for every month worked.
Is there annual leave in the first six months?
No legal entitlement yet. Leave starts to count once the person has worked six months, at 2 days a month, and the full 30 days apply after the first year.
Is annual leave paid on the full salary?
Leave taken while employed is paid on the full wage, basic plus allowances. Unused days paid out when someone leaves are paid on the basic salary only. Work out the pay with the leave salary calculator
Can a clinic refuse to let staff take their leave?
The employer can set the dates to suit the work, but cannot stop someone using their earned leave for more than two years. Up to half a year's leave can be carried forward by agreement.
